About this tour: This terrific introduction to the steamy heart of Central America takes in one of the region’s biggest and best-preserved lost Mayan cities, Tikal, as well as lush forest and stunning lakes. The contemporary culture of this vibrant region is equally fascinating and there will be plenty of opportunities to meet local people, buy wonderful handcrafts at vibrant markets, explore beautiful colonial towns and discover the stunning landscapes around them.

Day 1: Antigua Guatemala


Upon arrival, (without guide) our driver will meet you at La Aurora International Airport. Transfer to the city of Antigua Guatemala. After transfer (approximately 1 hour) to Antigua, free time.

Day 2: Chichicastenango Market – Lake Atitlan (Sunday or Thursday)

After breakfast, around 8:00 in the morning we will go to Chichicastenango (2.5 hours) to enjoy the colorful ethnic market, where the smell of incense and popular mystics promise a unique atmosphere, where bargaining for goods is appropriate, and the church with mixed Catholic traditions and traditions Mayan.This is a market that appears and disappears every Thursday and Sunday, as one of the ancient trading traditions in the Guatemalan Highlands, and it now delights visitors. In the afternoon, transfer to Panajachel. (1 hour).

Day 3: Lake Atitlan Tour

This morning you will take a boat tour of Lake Atitlan (30 minutes approx.) To the village of San Juan La Laguna, where you can visit the women’s textile cooperative and see the hand weaving and natural dyeing process.Next – visit the workshops of local artists naif, and then the tour will continue to the town of Santiago. After lunch, you continue your journey to the village by visiting Maximon God Maya and learning about textiles, spiritualism and Maya T’zutujil faith.

Day 4: Cerro de la Cruz – Azotea – Walking Tour

After breakfast, you will be taken to Cerro de la Cruz (Cross Hill), offering stunning views of Antigua Guatemala. Then continue the journey and visit the coffee farms, where you will learn about the process of growing coffee, and then visit Casa Kojom, which is a museum dedicated to the preservation of our traditional music.A walking tour awaits you, during which you will visit ruins, churches and museums. In this city, the stories and legends of colonial times are still present along with the old cobbled streets.

Day 5: Antigua – Ruta de Las Flores El Tunco, La Liberdad

At 8:00 am transfer to La Libertad, El Salvador, on the way you will have the opportunity to visit some villages, such as Juayua, Ataco, Apaneca, Nahuizalco, Salcoatitan and Tacouba, which are collectively called Ruta de Las Flores.

Day 6: The Maya Path

Visit to the “Pompeii of America”, an archeological site of Joya de Ceren (Joya de Ceren 35 km), declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site in 1993. Next is a visit to the ruins of San Andreas.Lunch in the city of Santa Ana and a picturesque tour of the city: the gothic cathedral of Santa Ana and the theater of Santa Ana. Visit to the archaeological site of Casa Blanca and the Tasumal ruins.

Day 7: El Salvador – Copan Honduras

At 8:00 am after breakfast, we will continue our journey to Honduras, where Copan, one of the most important archaeological monuments of the Mayan world, is located.
After registration, transfer to the Copan archaeological complex, where we will continue our tour, accompanied by a specialist guide who will lead us through the ceremonial center, ball field, hieroglyphic staircase and Acropolis.You will be amazed at the discovery of one of Copan’s main secrets: the discovery of the Rosalila temple, which has been buried over the centuries.

Day 8: Copan/ Coban, Alta Verapaz

After breakfast, we leave Copan, Honduras, and we travel for 6.5 hours to the Coban region. On arrival free time.

Day 9: Semuc Champey – Kanba Caves

Today in a 4×4 jeep ride to Semuc Champey, these are beautiful small ponds and pools, a natural land bridge that crosses the Cahabon River. The Cahabon River plunges into the Semuc Champey. In this unique natural formation, you will see water with hues ranging from light green emerald to dark blue sapphire.
Later visit the Kanba caves, and after the tour – transfer back to the hotel.

Day 10: Coban/ Rio Dulce

Today after breakfast, transfer to Rio Dulce, about 6.5 hours drive from the Coban to Rio Dulce, then take a boat to Livingston,  On arrival free time.

Day 11: Livingston / Peten

After breakfast, you will have an excursion around the village of Livingstone Garifuna, then take a boat trip for a tour of the Rio Dulce River, a visit to the island of birds, where you will have the opportunity to make excellent photos of birds.After the tour, you take a minibus to Flores Island. A few kilometers from Rio Dulce, we reach the border between the departments of Isabal and Peten, where you will notice a change in vegetation with a warm, humid climate.

Day 12: Tikal National Park

Today you will enjoy a guided tour of the trails and the main squares of the most important city in the world Maya. Here you will notice that nature and archeology combine beautifully. You can see the rich wildlife, the Mayan forest, millennial temples that are silent witnesses of birth and splendor, as well as the collapse of one of the most ancient civilizations on the planet, and all this in our trip to Tikal, the City of Voices.

Day 13: Yaxha-Melchor-San-Ignacio National Park

After breakfast, transfer to Yasha National Park (about 1 hour). Here we walk through the lush tropical forest where the howling monkeys fill the atmosphere with their voices to impress the females or drive the invading male into their flock. We will climb to some temples, offering beautiful panoramic views for photos. We will finish the day at the highest part of the temple 216, the tallest building where we will enjoy an unforgettable evening listening to the birds singing. After the tour, transfer to the border of Guatemala and Belize. Next is a transfer to the San Ignacio area.

Day 14: Actun Tunichil Muknal / Placencia

Transfer to the “Stone Coffin Cave”, a place that is one of the most impressive caves in the Mayan lowlands. Located in the heart of the Belize jungle, this cave was a sacred place in prehistoric Mayan time in Belize.Upon arrival, you will be equipped with the necessary equipment for an adventure in a cave. For 3 hours you will enjoy climbing and caves activities.You will be delighted with this amazing cave, which consists of a cave system with a series of cameras, which will end with a cathedral (300 by 50 meters), where sacrifices were once held. After the tour, transfer to Placencia Square (about 2.5 hours.)
